At four thirty-five on September 4th , the city of Christchurch in New Zealand was hit by the 7.1-Richter earthquake. It’s about the same size quake as Haiti, but the damage is so much less. The happening was reported to destroy about 500 buildings and caused an estimated £930 million of damage. In addition, about 100,000 among 160,000 residential houses were devastated due to the earthquake and aftershocks. Fortunately, no one was killed during the quake. Streets, shops, offices and schools throughout the region are closed until everything is checked to be safe.
