After the first diamond was found in this mine in the 19th century, there were 50,000 workers rushed to here, looking forward to change their life thanks to diamonds. Workers who worked tirelessly dug up to 2.720kg diamonds. Surprisingly, these miners did not use any advanced machines but only used human power and very simple tools such as hoes and shovels. Big Hole has a diameter of about 463m and 215m deep. This means that the volume of soil that the workers had dug and moved was extremely enormous. With the measurement of no less than 262-by-262 feet (80-by-80 meters) wide and 2.8 miles (4.5 kilometers) long, Hang Son Dong can absolutely beat the world record holder Deer Cave in the Malaysian for the world's largest cave. Hang Son Doong which means “Mountain River Cave” in Vietnamese is located in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, middle Vietnam. It is also near the Vietnam-Laos border. A local farmer found the cave in 1991 due to the sound of whistling from the underground river but he was too scared to delve inside.
