The tsunami wept away everything in its path, including houses, cars and farm buildings, and so on. 18 people are confirmed dead, 200 others were washed away, with several others missing during the disaster on the Sendai Island. People are still being evacuated to higher ground in coastal areas in order to survive from the powerful waves. It is said that commercial flights will be resumed soon. Hundreds of cars, many planes and even buildings were swept onto the runway at Sendai International Airport in Sendai, the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture in Japan when the massive waves engulfed the northeast coast of the country on March 11. The airport’s terminal building was flooded; the car park and aircraft hangers were also put on fire. The first massive explosion and leak rocked the Fukushima Daiichi atomic power plant, 240 km (150 miles) north of Tokyo, happened on Saturday (March 12, 2011) and make thousands of people be evacuated from their home. It left more than 10,000 deaths across the country and made thousands of people live nearly four days without fresh water, electricity as well as food.
