An anti-terror training exercise was conducted at the Special Weapons and Tactics Center No. 604 outside Moscow by the Russian Interior Ministry’s Internal Troops on March 24, 2011. This military event was held in the run-up to Internal Troops' 200th anniversary, which is due to be celebrated on March 27, 2011, and involved over 150 officers, 30 armored vehicles and two Mil Mi-8 Hip military transport helicopters. The commandos exercised an obstacle course that seized a terrorist-controlled building, rappelled down from helicopters and defeated the enemy using armored vehicles. The Internal Troops have carried out various special operations together with other security agencies, including counterterrorist operations, since the 1988 Armenian-Azerbaijani conflicts happened in Sumgait, Azerbaijan. read more
