The collection was bought by Tampa businesswoman Maureen Dunkel for a total of $700,000 in 1997, eight weeks before Diana was killed in a Paris car crash, as an investment. After Diana’s death, a non-profit foundation was set up by Dunkel to take the dresses on tour and raise money for Dian’s charities.
