NASA has recently decided to give up on recovering one of its two Mars rovers. The Spirit became stuck in 2009 and hasn’t been heard since March 22, 2010. It is said to be the victim of the planet’s frigid winter after seven years of work. Spirit and a sister craft named Opportunity successfully landed on Mars in 2004 for their Mars Exploration Rover Mission. Even though Spirit’s time is over, its legacy will live on. The rover has found many important details, including the geological evidence of ancient water on Mars during its 90-day primary mission.
