The sudden fire has sent around 10,000 people from their homes in the middle of the night. Some 400 firefighters from local departments as well as the state and the federal are battling the blaze, which is roaring into other locations due to the strong winds. By: Mary Rose | 2011-04-09 | News and society At least 3000 people lost their homes and 400 houses were destroyed after a five-hour predawn fire broke out at an area in Barangay Maysilo, Malabon City, Philippines on Thursday, March 7, 2011. The fire damaged property worth P2.5 million and was prevented at around 7:15 a.m. (local time) by firefighters on thirty five firetrucks from goverment and volunteer groups. Fortunately, nobody was initially reported hurt or killed. The fire is believed to be caused by an exploding liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank from a house of one Boy Cordero, who was cooking at the time the fire started. According to fireman Neil Sanglitan, firemen must hook up at least 10 water hoses measuring around 500 feet and stand on the roofs of neighboring houses before they could reach the fire. read more
