By: David Cassell | 2010-10-12 | Health & Fitness Reverse osmosis is a liquid filtration method which removes many types of atomic molecules from smaller molecules by forcing the liquid at high pressure, through a membrane with pores just big enough to allow the small molecules to pass through. read more
By: varalakshmi | 2010-10-28 | International Business A reverse osmosis water softener is a type of filter that removes minerals from water by forcing the water through a semi-porous membrane. The membrane captures the minerals as well as other harmful chemical contaminants like arsenic and lead, and it removes materials like chlorine that affect water's taste and smell. read more

By: Layne Christensen | 2010-03-29 | Manufacturing In a power plant, industrial Reverse Osmosis equipment is used almost exclusively in the boiler water pre-treatment area. Since most power boilers tend to operate at elevated pressure (>700 psig [4.8 MPa]), boiler feed water quality is very stringent. As a result, industrial Reverse Osmosis Equipment in this application is invariably followed by some type of demineralization (demin) polishing equipment, designed to reduce feed water dissolved solids, especially silica, to very low levels. Industrial Reverse Osmosis equipment, by itself, is incapable of providing the boiler feed water quality demanded by higher pressure power boilers. read more
