They made ropes with a local grass to be used in the construction of the Qeswachake hanging bridge, at the southern province of Canas in Cuzco. The bridge spans 120 feet (36 metres). There were around 1,000 farmers from the Andean communities of Huinchiri, Chaupibanda, Quehue, Choccayhua, and Ccolana participated in weaving and building the bridge. Techniques have been passed down through generations. Before building the Qeswachacke Bridge, Andean men sacrifice a lamb to be used as offering to the mountains. read more
