Waking up early means you have more time in your day to be productive and get things done. Getting up early could be difficult, especially for those who are accustomed to sleeping late. With these four tips, kickstart your day and get out of bed early to greet the sun in your new home at River Opus!

Cut Back on Caffeine

Caffeine could be the reason why you’re staying up late, which results in greater chances of sleeping in. Sure, it can help you be productive, but too much comes with a drawback. Coffee blocks out the adenosine receptors in your body to make you not feel tired. The adenosine does not just disappear when you take caffeine, though; it piles up until the caffeine wears off. If you plan on drinking coffee or an energy drink, take one before lunch.

Slowly Adjust Your Internal Clock

When starting to wake up early, take it slow and adjust your internal clock bit by bit. This helps with fatigue, stops frustration, and mid-day crashes. First, cut the timer back by 15 minutes or 30 minutes, then more until you reach the time you want to wake up. It’s important that you do this consistently. You’ll need a schedule, so set a time to sleep, make sure it gets you enough rest, and set a time to wake up.

Cold Bath

Nothing wakes you up almost instantly more than a cold bath very early in the day. It triggers a fight-or-flight instinct in our body due to our shock response being activated, and it also boosts dopamine and adrenaline.

The No-Screen Rule

Cutting screen time the moment you get into your bedroom could help you get to bed earlier because you are not susceptible to doomscrolling late into the night. Remember, your body needs to make melatonin for you to sleep.
