Cleaner fish play important roles in maintaining a lively tank. You won’t have to worry much about algae and fish debris gathering around your aquarium. You will have more free time to do other things in your Pinery Residences condo while the beautiful aquarium display enhances your interior. All cleaning fish are usually compatible with other communities, but sometimes aggressive based on their attitude. Here are the most recommended algae eaters and housekeeping fish.

Plecos

Plecos are known for their spots and impressive speed in cleaning algae in tanks. There are 2 basic types- big and small. Bigger ones, or Common Plecos, are faster at cleaning the algae, and the smaller ones, called Bristlenose Plecos, typically are for medium-sized aquariums.

Amano Shrimp

A common stereotype is that the smaller the fish, the less it cleans, but this isn’t always the case. These tiny creatures, although not fish, are excellent at doing their job. Perfect for any size aquariums, they are known for controlling algae growth around the tank as well as eating any leftover food. They can coexist with most fish as long as they aren’t carnivores or omnivores.

Snails

Snails can be a budget-friendly tank cleaner because of the way they reproduce quickly. Although very slow, these are still efficient in cleaning the algae, especially if there are many in the tank. You know, slow and steady!

Siamese Algae Eater

Siamese Algae Eaters are great additions to your tank. They are known for not being picky with what types of algae they consume. It’s recommended to buy them in groups. But these fish tend to perform better with fewer distractions.

Corydoras Catfish

Corydoras Catfish, while it seems out of place here, is still an exceptional cleaner. It doesn’t have algae in its diet, but still does a good job; it tends to eat debris and uneaten food, essentially keeping the tank from fogging up. Corydoras are compatible with most fish and must be in groups of 5 or more. They do well in a good tank with a number of hiding spots.
